From July 27 to August 4, 2011 a young Dutch amateur radio team was in Campina, Romania (90 km north of Bucharest) for Youngsters on the Air Week, part of the European Commission (EC) 'Youth in Action' program.
There were 45 participants registered from nine countries: Belgium, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia and Romania. Each country provided teams of four young radio amateurs (aged between 18 and 25 years) and a team captain.
The Dutch team was led by 21 year old Lisa Leenders PA2LS who recently went on a DXpedition to Ghana. She first got an amateur radio novice license at the age of 13 and was issued with the call sign PD2LLS.
For the Youngsters on the Air Week the special callsign YO0YOA was used. During the week there were many PowerPoint presentations about amateur radio in Europe, youth and amateur radio, frequencies, antennas, propagation, satellite communications, digital modes and disaster relief. Discussions followed each of the presentations.
There was also a treasure hunt and a radio field day along with a visit to the office of the national amateur organization FRR In the capital Bucharest. The last day was devoted to evaluating the event and the publicity surrounding it.

The first batch of Raspberry Pi computers is being issued to users.
A group of schoolchildren in Leeds are the first to get their hands on production models of the bare-bones computer.
Costing only £16, the tiny computer has been designed to inspire anyone, especially children, to get started with computer programming. Eager fans who were the first to order a machine should get their Raspberry Pi by 20 April.
Since the Raspberry Pi project began, the plan has garnered huge interest from developers, hobbyists and others keen to get their hands on a cheap, easy-to-use computer.
Delivery of the first batch of production machines has been delayed twice - once because the wrong component was soldered on to circuit boards and a second time thanks to confusion about electromagnetic testing.
