All repeaters need PL tone in order to be accessed. R5 is linked to R6 via a site in Ayios Fotios, allowing Amateurs in most parts of the Island to talk to each other. The link is semi-duplex on 434.725 with 88.5 Hz PL on TX and RX. Thanks to those under the command of Repeater Working Group Manager Norman 5B4AIE who completed this project 11 January 2008, although there will probably be experimental changes to it.
The input offset for the 2m repeaters is -600KHz, and for the 70cm repeater -5MHz. * R5
has been upgraded. Other Middle East Repeaters: Click HERE VHF SIMPLEX S20 145.500 is used as a simplex calling frequency.
You will hear many non-amateur stations transmitting from other Middle East countries, using the 2m band. But, if you hear a Cyprus QSO in Greek and you speak only English, just break in, should be no problem! News 9 July 2006 5B4AP Totos has donated two UHF repeaters + cavities + antennas to CARS. The CARS Repeater Group is now planning to set up the repeaters for use by Cyprus Amateurs asap. CARS wishes to thank Totos 5B4AP for his very generous donation. News 3 August 2007 We have run some tests and can now confirm that the Cyprus APRS network
succesfully supports the submission of email via APRS to any internet email
address. To do this you need to send an APRS message as you would normally send
however as a callsign you put 'EMAIL'. Then you need to start your message with
the email address you are sending to and then the actual message. As an example
if I wanted to send an email to someone@something.com via APRS I would send an
APRS message to 'EMAIL' and the message would have been "someone@something.com
Hi someone I just send you this email using my 2m handheld radio". For an introduction to APRS see G4IQI Website. For a fairly high resolution map of Cyprus click HERE BEACONS
