CARS AGM

The CARS 2008 AGM will be held on Sunday 4 May at 10am at the KOA in Lemesos.

  • HERE is the invitation.
  • HERE is the Secretary's report.
  • HERE is the report from Nicosia Club.
  • HERE is the report from Pafos Club.
  • HERE is the QSL Manager's report.
  • HERE are the minutes of the 2007 AGM.

Silent Key

It is with great sadness that we have to inform you that Ted 5B4OG of Larnaka recently passed away. He was about 90. He had been QRV and a member of CARS until 2001, when he moved to an old people's home and could not continue with the hobby.

5B***/EURO

From 8 January to 9 February 2008 (inclusive) CARS members (only) holding a 5B callsign were allowed to add the suffix /EURO to their call.

C4EURO

For the whole of 2008 the Pafos branch of CARS will be using the callsign C4EURO. Operation will be on most bands, CW SSB FM and PSK31.

All Licencees

The annual fee for the licence is €25.63

Each year every Amateur must pay to the Ministry the annual fee by 31 January, or your licence will lapse. It will then cost €51.26 to re-apply and you will have to produce the proof that you have passed the Cyprus exams, or have a CEPT licence, or a HAREC certificate, before you are allowed to operate again.

Send your cheque to Ministry of Communications & Works, Dept of Electronic Communications, PO Box 24647, Nicosia 1302.

Membership

CARS subscriptions are due each year on 1st January, members are asked to pay for 2008 by sending to The Treasurer, at the address at the top of this website, a cheque for €20 made out to 'Cyprus Amateur Radio Society'. Subscriptions are no longer collected at the local club level.

You may also make a bank transfer of €20

  • To:                          Bank of Cyprus
  • Account:              0556-00-007317-00 (for an eBank transfer you may have to leave out the hyphens)
  • Branch:               0556
  • Name:                 CYPRUS AMATEUR RADIO SOCIETY
  • Transfer details:  Your Callsign

Then - VERY IMPORTANT! email CARS Treasurer Pantelis 5B4CF at p a n i l y t r at spidernet dot com dot c y to advise him.
Note: If you cannot do an eBank transfer it may be cheapest to go to a Bank of Cyprus to do the transfer.

If you need to transfer to our account from abroad, our IBAN number is CY08 0020 0556 0000 0000 0073 1700 and the bank's SWIFT address is BCYPCY2N.

If you do not pay by 31 March you will be automatically deleted from the membership list (but of course you can rejoin).

If you are active here and not a member please join, representing the Cyprus Amateur Community to our Government and to the IARU is important, and without this there is no doubt that we would be subject to far more severe operating restrictions. Cost to join is only €5, then €20 a year.

You can download a copy of the Membership Application Form HERE  Fill it out, print it and post it to the Secretary.

CW is no longer a requirement for a 5B licence, as of 19 January 2007.

Can you make it to the next Monthly Ham Lunch? See HERE.
