Temporary special event callsigns with prefixes 5B, C4, H2, and P3 can be issued for specific special events, contests etc. Any licensed amateur may apply for special callsigns for particular events.

To apply for a special event callsign the interested amateur is advised to first review the  Special Call Activations List (187.26 kB) and then

apply for the desire special event callsign either in person or in writing to the Dept. of Electronic Communications, including a cheque for €30 (Thirty euro) made payable to "The Manager of the Dept. of Electronic Communications", and posting these to the following address:

From time to time, and in order to mark specific event, CARS may apply for a block of special callsigns, for use by CARS members or by the radio amateur community of Cyprus in general. Examples for such applications are:

• C4EURO :  For the duration of 2008, the Paphos branch of CARS used the callsign C4EURO, to mark the uptake by Cyprus of the Euro currency.
• 5B***/EURO : From 8 January to 9 February 2008 (inclusive) CARS members (only) holding a 5B callsign, were allowed to add the suffix /EURO to their call, to mark the Cyprus accession to the European Union.
